What gifts have midwifery given you?
What I didn't expect was how much it has taught me to be vulnerable, to look below the surface.
The gift of falling in love over and over again and then saying goodbye, to walk the fine line of knowing that my hands can change the outcome of a birth but that they shouldn't always intervene.
That the only use of power should be in amplifying the strength of the mother and deepening her trust in herself. Seeing the raw strength of the fathers in how deeply they love their women and the babies they bring into this world. The best part is holding a safe space for all of that to unfold.
